Welcome to the Breadalbane Inn

Nestled in the heart of Fergus, the Breadalbane Inn (pronounced bruh-DAHL-bun) is a true gem of Scottish architecture and local history. Originally built in 1851 by George D. Fergusson, son of Fergus co-founder Adam Fergusson, the inn began as a modest stone cottage. In 1860, it was transformed into an elegant home known as “Mapleshade,” featuring fine stonework and luxurious imported finishes.

In 1975, the historic residence was lovingly converted into an inn by Philip and Jean Cardinal of Ottawa, Ontario, and renamed the “Breadalbane Inn.”

Today, the inn is proudly owned by chef Peter Egger and his family, who took over in 1996. Chef Egger’s passion for cuisine brought new life to the Maple Shade Dining Room—now the acclaimed Scozia Restaurant—as well as the welcoming Fergusson Room Pub.

The Breadalbane Inn offers seven beautifully appointed suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Many feature cozy fireplaces and indulgent Jacuzzi tubs for the perfect relaxing escape. Just steps away, the Carriage House offers four deluxe King suites, ideal for celebrating special occasions in comfort and style.

Whether you're here for a romantic weekend, a gourmet meal, or a peaceful getaway, the Breadalbane Inn invites you to experience its timeless charm and warm hospitality.
